On draft night, a pair of former Terps are on the move.

Guards Greivis Vasquez and Steve Blake were traded from their respective teams on Thursday night.

After spending the last two season with the Toronto Raptors, the Raptors dealt the former Maryland guard to the Milwaukee Bucks for a 2017 first round pick (via the Los Angeles Clippers) and the 46th overall pick on Thursday, which was used to selected UCLA’s Norman Powell.

This is fifth NBA team for Vasquez since being selected 28th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2010 NBA Draft. He also spent two years with the New Orleans Pelicans after being dealt to the French Quarter for Quincy Pondexter on Dec. 24, 2011. On July 10, 2013, the Venezuelan guard was shipped to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team trade.

Just five months later, Vasquez was traded to the Toronto Raptors in the deal that brought swingman Rudy Gay to Sacramento. In July of 2014, he signed a two-year, $13 million contract to remain in Toronto.

During the 2014-15 season, Vasquez averaged 9.5 points-per-game, 3.7 assists-per-game, and 2.6 rebounds-per-game in a reserve role for the Raptors.

  • On the other hand, Blake was moved in a multiple-player trade.

The former Terp was traded along with the No. 23 pick in the Draft, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, to the Brooklyn Nets for Mason Plumlee and the No. 41 pick in the Draft, Pat Connaughton.

This is the eighth team in 12 NBA seasons. Blake will be on his fourth team since 2014 as he has spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, and now the Brooklyn Nets.

Blake was originally drafted 38th overall in the 2002 Draft by the Washington Wizards. This is the first East Coast team that the former Terp has played for since his early days with the Wizards.

During the 2014-15 season, Blake averaged 4.3 ppg, 3.6 apg, and 1.7 rpg as the primary backup to Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard.

While these two former Terps have bounced around the NBA, both are outstanding additions to any bench.
