The Maryland football program continues to have success on the recruiting trail.

Ellison Jordan narrowed his list on Friday and the Terps made the cut.

Jordan released his top three schools, which were Maryland, Penn State, and Virginia Tech. The Gilman defensive tackle is one of Maryland’s top targets and one of the top uncommitted recruits in the area.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Jordan is rated as the 161st best player in the nation while being the No. 5 player in the state of Maryland and the No. 17 defensive tackle in the 2016 class.

The three schools were not a huge surprise as they are the top three in Jordan’s Crystal Ball predictions. The Terps currently hold nine predictions (75 percent) while the Nittany Lions have two and the Hokies just own one.

Maryland has one of the top players in the state in Bullis School quarterback Dwayne Haskins already committed. The Terps could potentially gain pledges from three of the top five players in the state if Jordan and Avalon School athlete Trevon Diggs were to come to College Park.

Diggs plans to announce on July 4, but it’s unclear when Jordan will announce his collegiate plans.

During Haskins’ announcement, Jordan was one of the 20 players that he stated that he wanted to recruit to College Park. Currently, the only prospect on the list that has committed to Maryland is Chaminade-Julienne (Oh.) defensive tackle Jeffery Pooler.

Maryland currently has the 29th best class in the country and the seventh best in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports. The Terps currently hold pledges from Haskins, Good Counsel linebacker Keandre Jones, and DeMatha Catholic wideout D.J. Turner.
