247Sports released their final rankings for the 2015 recruiting class.

Maryland commit Diamond Stone checked in at No. 8 overall in the updated rankings. Stone is now rated as the No. 2 center in the class, just behind Kentucky commit Skal Labissiere.

Stone is the highest rated incoming recruit in the Big Ten, but Caleb Swanigan (Michigan State) and Thomas Bryant (Indiana) are also five-star recruits that will be entering the conference.

Stone is sandwiched between the group of Alonzo Trier (Arizona) and Malik Newman (undecided) and the group of Dwayne Bacon (Florida State) and Ivan Rabb (California).

The Wisconsin native signed with the Terrapins last week after intense speculation about his decision to apply for financial aid at Maryland rather than sign a National Letter of Intent. Stone will join JuCo guard Jaylen Brantley to make up the two-man recruiting class for the Terps.

While Maryland did miss out on Drexel transfer Damion Lee on Wednesday, they still have a ton of talent returning to College Park.

Forward Jake Layman and guard Melo Trimble both decided to return to school rather than enter the NBA Draft. The frontcourt should also be a position of strength as coach Mark Turgeon will have Stone and Georgia Tech transfer Robert Carter Jr. anchoring the front lines. That’s on top of having last year’s starter Damonte Dodd back for his junior season along with budding Slovakian star Michal Cekovsky waiting in the wings.

Stone adds to an already talented group that is considered a preseason top-five team when the 2015-16 season begins in November.
