Avalon School wideout Trevon Diggs is one of the most electrifying playmakers around.

Diggs made it official by announcing his top 12 schools on Friday. The brother of former Terrapins star Stefon Diggs tweeted out a list that included the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Penn State, and Rutgers in addition to Maryland.

Diggs is a four-star recruit that is rated No. 88 overall and No. 5 athlete, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings. The former Wooten wideout is also ranked as the No. 3 player in the state of Maryland. The Terps currently lead the way with 79 percent of the Crystal Ball predictions.

According to Ahmed Ghafir of InsideMDSports, Diggs still expressed his desire to play his college football with prized quarterback recruit Dwayne Haskins Jr. Haskins has been linked to Maryland for quite some time, and could be a way to get the younger Diggs to College Park.

In 2014, Diggs caught 78 passes for 1,008 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The 2016 is a loaded class, even just from a local standpoint. Maryland already has running back Lorenzo Harrison, outside linebacker Keandre Jones, and wideout D.J. Turner in the fold from a local perspective.

From a skill position standpoint, Imhotep (Pa.) tight end Naseir Upshur is high on Maryland’s radar, and could definitely be in play if Diggs and Haskins decide to commit to Maryland.

There’s still plenty of time before these players will make their decisions, but Diggs’ announcement was a step in the right direction in Maryland’s recruitment of a young star.
