Former Maryland receiver DJ Moore is on track to be the next big thing in the NFL
Thanks to a stellar Junior season and great numbers at the NFL Combine, DJ Moore has seen his projections sky rocket ahead of Thursday night’s First Round of the NFL Draft.
The six foot, 210 pound wide out has begun to top the chart of some NFL Draft experts, which could make him the first Maryland player taken in the first round since Darrius Heyward-Bey in 2009.
Here is how Moore is being projected:
USA Today: Position Rank- 2nd Draft Position: First Round
SB Nation: Postion Rank- 3rd Draft Position: First Round
Walter Football: Position Rank- 2nd Draft Position: First or Second Round
Bleacher Report: Position Rank- 4th Draft Position: Second Round
Most experts seem to lean on either the experience of Alabama Receiver Calvin Ridley, or the high amount of potential that DJ Moore has shown in the last eight months.
According to NFL.com, teams that have a top need of Wide Receiver include the Baltimore Ravens (16th), Dallas Cowboys (19th) and Carolina Panthers (24th). The potential of Moore bringing local hype to the Ravens will certainly give him a chance at being the first receiver off the board.
With how Stefon Diggs has made waves with the Minnesota Vikings, there is no doubt that NFL teams will not overlook another explosive Maryland receiver like Moore. Or at least not let him fall to the fifth round like Diggs, who’s mother had something to say about that.
