Getting after the quarterback

Maryland and Ohio State are usually near the top of the Big Ten when it comes to the sacks department.

However, neither team ranks in the top three in that category so far this season.

The Buckeyes currently have 12 sacks while the Terps have accumulated just nine during this young season. Jermaine Carter Jr. has 2.5 sacks, but no other Terp has 1.5 up to this point.

As should come as no surprise, Nick Bosa currently leads the way for Ohio State with three sacks on the year. This comes a year after Bosa racked up five sacks, which was second on the team in 2016.

Neither has gotten after the quarterback at a very high rate. That’s certainly something worth keeping an eye on in Saturday’s contest.

Maryland has really struggled, which comes as a huge surprise. Obviously, the Terps lost a significant amount of talent from last year’s roster and Jesse Aniebonam was lost for the year after just one game.

If Maryland can make life difficult for Barrett on Saturday, it’ll definitely keep the Terps hanging around.
