The Maryland football team lost freshman quarterback Kasim Hill in the first quarter and never recovered.

The Terrapins fell at the hands of Central Florida by a 38-10 result on Saturday afternoon. In the deflating loss, Maryland only accumulated 197 yards of total offense and converted just two third downs the whole game.

Hill was injured late in the first quarter when he was running with the football. He tried to spin away from a Central Florida defender and ended up taking a huge hit.

The former St. John’s College (D.C.) star seemed to hurt his right leg and was helped off the field. He didn’t put any weight on his leg and was carted to the locker room shortly after he suffered the injury.

Following Hill’s exit from the game, sophomore Max Bortenschlager took the snaps for the remainder of the game. Bortenschlager completed 15-of-26 passes for 132 yards while throwing a touchdown and two interceptions.

He found star wide receiver D.J. Moore in the red zone on a throw that was high. Still, Moore was able to extend, snag the tough catch, and run into the end zone for a 20-yard score in the third quarter.

Moore’s touchdown cut the Knights’ lead to 24-10, but a comeback wasn’t in the cards for the Terps. The Pennsylvania native did end up recording eight receptions for 83 yards on the afternoon.

It was certainly a game that incited anger from the social media world. Here’s some of the best tweets from Saturday afternoon.

Bortenschlager struggled most of the afternoon, but the Shawn Petty year was one of the worst this program has ever seen.

The classic quote from former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones. This one was one of the best of the afternoon by far.

Well this is definitely true. The Randy Edsall era sure provided some pretty awful moments.
