Maryland Football: Five storylines to watch for Maryland/Central Florida
By Chris Bengel
Rust for Central Florida
It’s been well-documented that Hurricane Irma had a tremendously horrific impact on the state of Florida.
Very few teams know that better than Central Florida.
The Knights have only played one game this season due to the storm. Central Florida easily defeated Florida International 61-17 back on Aug. 31 and looked very strong.
Quarterback McKenzie Milton completed 16-of-21 passes for 360 yards and four touchdowns. He tossed passes to 13 different receivers as the Knights recorded 26 receptions as a team.
However, by the time Saturday rolls around, it will have been over three weeks since Central Florida has played a game. In addition, they just began practicing late last week.
The Knights definitely looked like a very talented team, but rust could certainly be a factor.
Timing can often be an issue for teams in their season opener. This nearly qualifies as such given the gap between their first and second game.
In addition, Maryland played against Milton last season, so they’re certainly familiar with his tendencies.
If Central Florida start showing out slow, it could be a long afternoon.
