Torrey Smith
Current Team: Philadelphia Eagles
2016 Stats: 20 receptions/267 receiving yards/three touchdowns/13.4 yards-per-catch
The Skinny: The early portion of Smith’s career was a feel-good story. The Maryland star was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens and helped led them to a Super Bowl victory. In the 2015 offseason, Smith signed a five-year free agent contract with the San Francisco 49ers. However, he spent the past two seasons in what can almost be considered a nightmare. Inconsistent quarterback play dominated his tenure in San Francisco.
However, Smith found new life when he signed with the Eagles this past offseason. Wide receiver was the ultimate weakness for Philadelphia last season, but Smith was brought in alongside Alshon Jeffery to help fill the void. Smith will have second-year signal caller Carson Wentz throwing to him and Jeffery should help take some of the pressure off of Smith. The former Terp should have plenty of opportunities down the field for the Eagles in 2017.
