Maryland Football: Five things to watch in Red-White Spring Game
By Chris Bengel
Has this unit made strides?
The offensive line is a unit that has several players with a ton of potential.
However, the group struggled to protect Maryland’s quarterbacks in 2016. They surrendered the most sacks in the Big Ten (49), which averages out to 3.8 per contest.
There’s definitely talent in this group with Terrance Davis, Brendan Moore, and Damian Prince all back in the fold. They are forced to deal with the abrupt departure of guard Mike Minter, who decided to give up football after graduating early.
Sean Christie has been impressive this spring, so look for the junior to see a lot of time at guard. Derwin Gray also could work his way into the starting group.
Pass protection is something to watch because if Henderson does end up being the starter, he’s certainly not as mobile as a guy like Pigrome.
