Bruno Fernando and Darryl Morsell were already set to come to College Park with plenty of accolades.

On Tuesday evening, Fernando and Morsell were named as participants in the 44th annual Capital Classic. The annual all-star game will be played on April 8.

Fernando and Morsell will join signees from North Carolina, Syracuse, and Villanova at the event. Anthony Cowan represented the Terrapins in the game last year.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Fernando is rated as the No. 78 player in the country and the seventh-best center. Morsell is tabbed as the No. 92 player and the fifth-best combo guard.

Maryland’s 2017 class is rated as the No. 49 class in the nation and the eighth-best in the Big Ten.

This will be a chance for Maryland fans to get an up-close look at the two newest Terps. Both players signed their National Letters of Intent on Nov. 9.

Fernando is a very explosive big man that could have an impact during his first year in College Park. Center Damonte Dodd and forward LG Gill are both gone, so depth could be an issue with the way the roster currently stands.

Ivan Bender and Michal Cekovsky are expected to return and be big-time producers for Mark Turgeon’s squad.

On the other hand, Morsell’s playing time mostly depends on if Melo Trimble decides to return for his senior season. If he declares for the NBA Draft and stays in, Morsell could see time as the backup behind Cowan.

Adding a pair of four star recruits like Fernando and Morsell will be huge considering the talent that Maryland already has in place.
