Both Vernon Davis and Torrey Smith have had plenty of success at the NFL level.

However, both former Maryland stars look like they could playing in the DMV in 2017.

On Wednesday, Davis re-signed with the Washington Redskins on a three-year deal. Meanwhile, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports, there is a “very, very strong likelihood” that Torrey Smith signs with the Baltimore Ravens.

Davis spent the 2016 season with the Redskins after winning a Super Bowl in his only year with the Denver Broncos. On the other hand, Smith was with the San Francisco 49ers for the past two seasons with signing a five-year deal in 2015.

Smith spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Ravens after three years at Maryland.

Unfortunately, these two Terrapins had very different seasons in 2016.

Davis had one of his more productive campaigns in quite some time. The Washington, D.C. native caught 44 passes for 583 yards and two touchdowns.

The former Terp hadn’t put up numbers like that since 2013 when he caught a career-high 13 touchdowns for the 49ers.

Ironically, Smith also spent some time in the Bay Area, but didn’t have nearly the amount of success that Davis did.

Statistically, Smith had the two worst years of his NFL career. He is coming off a 2016 season in which he recorded just 20 receptions for 267 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite only having 663 receiving yards in his first year in San Francisco, Smith did manage to have an NFL-best 20.1 yards-per-reception. Still, it wasn’t the type of effort that fans have been accustomed to seeing from the 28-year old wideout.

While the Ravens seem like the destination for Smith, the Philadelphia Eagles are also very interested in the former Maryland star. Regardless of where he ends up, Smith will almost definitely put up better numbers than he has over the past two seasons.
