The Maryland basketball team is almost finished with the regular season.

With that being said, the Terrapins have just four games left before the Big Ten Tournament kicks off in nearby Washington D.C.

Maryland will face off against Minnesota on Wednesday evening. The Terps enter the game with a 22-5 (10-4 Big Ten) record and are coming off a 71-60 loss at the hands of Wisconsin.

Because of the result against the Badgers, the Terps trail Purdue by two games. However, Wisconsin does as well because Purdue has an additional game played.

With all of this taken into account, let’s take a closer look at where various sites have Maryland basketball in their bracketology projections.

ESPN

  • Seed: No. 6
  • Projected opponent: No. 11 Middle Tennessee State; 24-4 (14-1 Conference USA)
  • Potential opponent in next round: This is a very interesting projection for one very simple reason. It could potentially feature a matchup with none other than a former ACC archrival in Duke. Joe Lunardi has the Blue Devils as a No. 3 seed facing No. 14 seeded UNC-Asheville out of the Big South. Most likely, Duke and Maryland would both advance and set up a colossally exciting game to round out the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

CBSSports

  • Seed: No. 6
  • Projected opponent: No. 11 Arkansas; 20-7 (9-5 SEC)
  • Potential opponent in next round: Jerry Palm has a very similar projection to that of Lunardi. Palm has Duke as a No. 3 seed facing No. 14 East Tennessee State out of the Southern Conference. This definitely has a chance to happen because the Blue Devils are playing their best basketball right now. Depending on how well each team does in their respective conference tournament, this could be something that Terp fans actually get to see.

USA Today

  • Seed: No. 6
  • Projected opponent: No. 11 Middle Tennessee State; 24-4 (14-1 Conference USA)
  • Potential opponent in next round: Stop if you’ve heard this before: Maryland will face Middle Tennessee State and a win gets them Duke in the second game of the first weekend. Shelby Mast has the very same projection as Lunardi and Palm. Mast does have Belmont as the No. 14 seed that will face Duke in the opening round, so there’s something a little different.
