Melo Trimble

Melo Trimble was a highly-regarded recruit during his high school days. Despite the fact that he could’ve held out for bigger offers, Trimble committed to Maryland very early on in the process.

Ever since then, Trimble has been the face of the basketball program. Despite having a large amount of talented players in the fold over the past three years, Trimble has remained arguably the most important. In countless articles on this publication, we’ve used the term “the straw that stirs the drink” to describe Trimble and it’s true.

Trimble is having tremendous success again as a junior. He’s still in the running for the Naismith and Wooden Awards as the regular season winds down. Trimble has produced several big-time moments during his Maryland career. For current students and the younger generation, they may be a little too young to remember the Juan Dixons and Steve Blakes of the world.

Trimble is a guy that they can identify with and he’s been the perfect example of a talented guard since he arrived on campus. It’s really hard to imagine a Maryland fan that doesn’t think very highly of Trimble.
