Maryland Football: Marcus Minor collapses in game
By Chris Bengel
Marcus Minor is one of the most heralded recruits in Maryland’s 2017 class.
However, football seemed like the least important thing when Minor collapsed during DeMatha’s game against Good Counsel. Minor appeared to suffer a head injury which resulted in his fall to the turf.
The following excerpt was from USA Today’s Jim Halley:
"The victory was tempered, however by what appeared to be a head injury to Stags left tackle Marcus Minor, a senior Maryland commit, on English’s final touchdown. After the score, Minor staggered and fell. He was attended to on the field for several minutes before being carried off the field on a gurney."
DeMatha did manage to win the game 21`-7 behind three rushing touchdowns from quarterback Beau English. The two teams will face one another in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference semifinals in Landover.
Stags coach Elijah Brooks addressed his team after the game and said that Minor would be okay. Minor has taken to Montgomery General Hospital following the injury.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Minor is rated as the No. 220 player in the nation. He is also ranked as the fifth-best player in the state of Maryland just behind fellow Terrapin commit Deon Jones.
Minor is one of three offensive linemen in coach D.J. Durkin’s 2017 class. The Terps also have pledges from McDonogh School offensive tackle Jordan McNair and Gonzaga center Johnny Jordan.
Durkin has continued to make the offensive line a priority much like his predecessor Randy Edsall did.
