Maryland Basketball: What we know about the 2016-17 nonconference schedule
By Chris Bengel
Pittsburgh
When: Nov. 29
Where: Xfinity Center (part of ACC/Big Ten Challenge)
The Skinny: The Panthers were being billed as the Terps main rival before Maryland left the ACC. Now the two are being matched up once again in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Pittsburgh finished with a 21-12 record last season, which included a 9-9 mark during ACC play. Jamie Dixon left Pittsburgh to coach his alma mater in TCU, but the Panthers did some excellent damage control in luring Kevin Stallings away from Vanderbilt.
The Panthers will be paced by senior forward Michael Young. Young is coming off a season in which he averaged 15.7 points and 6.9 rebounds as the top scoring option. Young is a very gifted athlete that could be matched up with Jackson when the two teams play in November. Fellow forward Jamel Artis makes his living around the basket, but also can step out and hit from the perimeter. Pittsburgh’s one-two punch will certainly be depended on quite a bit next season.
Next: No. Sleep. Till Brooklyn.
