Maryland Football: Recapping where each Terp landed in the NFL Draft
By Chris Bengel
Brandon Ross
Despite not being as highly regarded as teammate Wes Brown upon his arrival at Maryland, Ross had a large amount of success at the collegiate level. Ross finished 2,543 career rushing yards, which was good for fourth all-time in program history. He also rushed for 19 touchdowns, including 10 as a senior in 2015.
Even with that amount of success, Ross is going to have to fight if he wants to earn a roster spot at the NFL level. The Vikings currently possess arguably the best running back in football in Adrian Peterson. As if that weren’t enough, Peterson has two very capable backups behind him in Matt Asiata and Jerrick McKinnon. Unless one of those two are dealt or suffered a long-term injury, Ross likely won’t teammates with Diggs for very long. On the other hand, Ross could showcase his talents to a future team that may be in need of a running back closer to the beginning of the season.
It’s certainly going to be an uphill battle for Ross to establish himself at the NFL level. However, he showed tremendous home run potential during his time at Maryland, so the talent is clearly there.
