Maryland star wideout Stefon Diggs appears to have backed up his bold statement.

Diggs ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine on Saturday morning. This comes just days after the former Good Counsel star predicted that he would run a sub 4.5 40 time.

Diggs’ mark should improve his NFL Draft stock, and is drawing some pretty lofty comparisons to past combine performers.

In 2014, then LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. ran a 4.43 40-yard dash, and his hands measured exactly the same as Diggs.

Here’s the tale of the tape:

NFL Network analyst Charles Davis made the statement comparing Beckham and Diggs.

"“When you take a look at the physical [comparison], Odell Beckham comes to mind,” Davis said. “Now, I think Odell Beckham’s speed, I know it says 4.43 there, but his play speed is definitely that. Stefon Diggs, when he came out of high school, he was one of the top players in the country. The whole country wanted him.”"

Obviously, that’s a lot of potential to live up to as Beckham caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns as a rookie. The former LSU star did it in just 12 games.

Diggs definitely opened a lot of eyes on Saturday, and probably vaulted himself into that second to third round range.
