Why this could be a loss:

Ohio State and Maryland don’t really mesh well. The Buckeyes and Urban Meyer don’t lose to teams like Maryland often, and even though this game is at home for the Terps, it might be a neutral site game. Ohio State has lost two games during the Meyer era, and they have a Heisman candidate for a quarterback this year who will want some revenge after losing the Big Ten championship last year to Michigan State. Who’s their first Big Ten

opponent on their revenge tour? Maryland.

Ohio State could be looking to absolutely obliterate their first Big Ten opponent, and Maryland may unfortunately be in the way for that one.

Why this could be a win:

It’s Maryland’s first home Big Ten game, and they match up relatively well with Ohio State. The Buckeyes are talented, but they’re prone to mistakes and their defense has been pretty brutal. Maryland is going to head into this game more excited than ever, and with a very raucous Byrd Stadium, if the Terps can rattle the Buckeyes early they could win.

It’s a long shot, but Maryland knows that if they get a win against Ohio State, the rest of the Big Ten gets put on notice for the remainder of the season. There’s an intimidation factor to be gained in beating the best. The pressure isn’t on Maryland here, and that’s a huge plus for the Terps.
