Former Maryland starting offensive tackle R.J. Dill will transfer to Rutgers, via Patrick Stevens.
Dill reportedly chose Rutgers over Connecticut and Marshall. The rising fifth-year senior, who will graduate this week, will be able to play immediately in Piscataway thanks to an NCAA rule that allows players with an undergraduate degree to transfer without having to sit out for a season.
Dill was Maryland’s active leader in games played (37) and games started (33) coming into next season. In his Terp career, he started 23 games at right tackle and ten games at left tackle.
Here’s the full transcript of the e-mail Dill sent to Stevens:
"I would like to thank all the coaches who reached out and offered me a place to further my academic and athletic endeavors. However I have decided to finish my collegiate career at Rutgers University. I feel that Rutgers offers me the best opportunity to better myself as a student athlete. I am excited to end this college search so that I can focus on getting my graduate degree in labor relations, and look forward to becoming part of the Rutgers football family.Thank you,RJ Dill"
