One of the Terps’ women’s basketball team’s only seniors has been suspended indefinitely, according to a press releasefrom umterps.com.
Though Kizer was expected to assume a leadership role for the Terps this season, now she can only watch from the sidelines.
From the official press release:
"Maryland head women’s basketball coach Brenda Frese announced Tuesday evening that senior Lynetta Kizer has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules. There is no timetable for her reinstatement."
The 6-foot-4 center has received a number of honors in her three previous years, including ACC rookie of the year in 2009. In the 102 games played throughout her career, she has a .493 field goal percentage and 28 double-doubles.
The Terps dismantled Division-III team Messiah last night in exhibition, 82-36, without Kizer. They have another exhibition Sunday against Holy Family, and will begin their season–with or without Kizer–on Nov. 11, against Loyola (Md.), in College Park.
