Recruiting Updates From Articles We Can’t Read – Shaquille Cleare

IMS had a post up today entitled “Terps a ‘Cleare’ Favorite?” Puns aside, it looks like Maryland is one of the top choices for 2012 basketball recruit Shaquille Cleare.
Cleare is a top-of-the-line prospect – the 6’9″, 285 pound center from Houston is ranked the 7th best center in the class by Rivals and 27th best player among 2012 prospects. Other schools recruiting Cleare include Kansas, LSU, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
The Terps are obviously hurting in big man depth – Dino Gregory is a senior, James Padgett has a way to go, Jordan Williams might leave early, Berend Weijs is a junior, and Ashton Pankey needs to stay healthy. There are still a few 2011 big man targets, like Desmond Hubert and Greg Whittington, but Cleare is a much bigger name. Also, it would be awesome to have a “Shaq” on the team.
