David Mellstrom, a wide receiver from Sykesville Md, is an up-and-coming star among in-state 2011 prospects. After taking an unofficial visit to College Park, his interest in becoming a Terp has increased, and the senior says Maryland is his number one choice. Mellstrom noted the morale of the team, the coaching staff, and the top of the line facilities as factors that have put the Terps on top of his recruitment.

Mellstrom has Maryland on top of his list, with William and Mary, Virginia and Virginia Tech following. He has yet to receive scholarship offers from any of his top four, but is hopeful to get one soon. He says he would like to be able to commit during December, Christmas time at the latest, so he can finish his senior year focusing on school.

Mellstrom has 12 total touchdowns this season – nine receiving, two on kick returns and one rushing. He runs a 4.47 40, squats 345 and benches 245. Standing at 6’1 and weighing 178 pounds, his size resembles current Maryland wideouts Adrian Cannon, Kevin Dorsey, and Tony Logan. Mellstrom was also selected as a team captain this year.

It will exciting to see if this enthusiastic recruit soon becomes a Terrapin.
