The Maryland football team easily dispatched of Florida International this past Friday evening.

The Terrapins cruised past the Golden Panthers in a 41-14 victory. Quarterback Perry Hills looked flawless as he threw for three touchdowns throughout the contest.

The running game also continued to establish its dominance early this season. Virginia Tech transfer Trey Edmunds led the way with 78 yards on eight carries.

The Terps outgained the Golden Panthers in total yards by a 477-372 margin. Maryland also tallied an astounding 22 first downs throughout the game.

Now Maryland will shift their focus to Central Florida in another matchup on the road.

The Terps released their depth chart in advance of the game on Monday. There weren’t a ton of changes, but we’ll dissect what positions did see some movement.

  • At the defensive tackle spot, Brett Kulka was listed as the backup to Cavon Walker prior to the Florida International game. Now Kulka is listed as the co-starter along with Walker. Numbers wise, there really hasn’t been much that has separated the two defensive linemen. Walker has three tackles (none for loss) on the season and Kulka has two (none for loss). It’s obviously extremely early in the season, but Durkin appears to be giving both the opportunity to take control of the starting job.
  • Nickel cornerback still lists Will Likely as the starter, but Elijah Daniels is backing him up instead of Jarrett Ross. Former starter RaVon Davis is listed under Daniels as a backup as well. Davis was one of the team’s starting cornerbacks before J.C. Jackson made his debut against the Golden Panthers. It appears as though the coaching staff liked what they saw from Davis due to him still being listed on the depth chart.
  • The last change was the obvious one. Jackson is now at the top of the depth chart at cornerback after his performance against Florida International. The former Gator registered three tackles and looked very impressive in pass coverage throughout Friday’s game. With Jackson getting more reps, he’ll continue to get even better. With Jackson and Likely anchoring the Maryland secondary, this could be one of the top groups in the Big Ten this season.
