Coming off a year that ended abruptly after only three games, Maryland cornerback Dexter McDougle is hot on the comeback trail.

Per his Instagram account, McDougle announced that he has been invited to participate in the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine. The Combine takes place on Feb. 22-25 and the defensive backs will audition on the final day of the event. He is projected as a late round pick by many drafting websites.

Here’s the photo McDougle posted to make the announcement:

As many remember, McDougle had his 2013 season cut short as he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the third game against Connecticut. Earlier in that very game, the Stafford High School (VA) product altered the momentum of the game and returned an interception for a touchdown. It was also the main reason that freshman cornerback Will Likely was forced into a starting role in which he saw tremendous success.

In those three games, McDougle registered 14 tackles and intercepted three passes. Two of those interceptions came against the Huskies in their week three match-up. That early season effort tied his career high of three interceptions, which he achieved during the 2011 season.

We’ll track every step of the way in McDougle’s quest for NFL glory. We miss him nothing but the best!
