Unlike Nick Faust and Sterling Gibbs, Martin Breunig has apparently not received his release yet. He has asked for it, however, and I can’t imagine what is holding the process up.

We’ve talked about Dalonte Hill on here twice before, as rumors have flown around about the possibility of Maryland being interested in hiring Kansas State’s stud assistant. Andy Katz is reporting that Mark Turgeon has interviewed Hill, which makes rumors reality. Hill is the highest paid assistant coach in the country, which made this tweet from Rivals’ Rob Cassidy even more interesting.

It’ll be about going home, not money, should Hill decide to join the Terrapin staff. So if it does happen, expect it to happen for less $$$.

Bill Connelly of SB Nation’s Football Study Hall and Paul Myerberg of Pre-Snap Read both recently previewed James Franklin’s Vandy team, if you’re into that sort of thing. They are both excellent blogs that really delve deeply into all things college football (and in the case of Football Study Hall, some really cool statistics). Here’s Connelly’s piece, and here’s Myerberg’s.

Speaking of great posts, Ben Broman over at Testudo Times took a very in-depth look at Maryland basketball’s scholarship situation for both this year and next, and the possible recruiting targets for both. It’s definitely worth a read, although my guess is if you read this blog you read TT as well.

Greivis Vasquez didn’t have nearly as big of a role as he did in the fourth game of the series, but the Grizzlies manhandled the Thunder and forced a Game 7.

Thanks for stopping by. Turn it up.

I spent the weekend without internet access, so I wasn’t able to update the site (or even watch the spring game). It’s definitely not the morning, but here’s our round-up of what we missed.

“Multiple” offense beats “Multiple” defense as the Red team (which was composed mostly of the first-team offense) destroyed the White team (composed mostly of the first-team defense) 35-7. You can start your #DOB4ACCPOY campaign, everyone, because Danny O’Brien was on point. Although DOB threw two interceptions, he was 16-23 for 199 yards and two touchdowns and seemed comfortable in the new offense. The rest of the quarterbacks? Not so much. C.J. Brown was 9-26 for 96 yards with an interception, Tyler Smith was 2-5 for 28 yards and a pick, and Troy Jones was 0-1. Other highlights:

Davin Meggett and D.J. Adams both had good games on the ground, and Jeremiah Wilson looks like the favorite for the third running back slot.

Ronnie Tyler had three receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns, Kevin Dorsey and Quintin McRee each caught a game-high four passes, and freshman Nigel King caught three passes.

Neither Michael Tart nor Nick Ferrara averaged over 40 yards per punt. Nate Renfro, you couldn’t come soon enough.

Kenny Tate and Cameron Chism each had 11 tackles, while Matt Robinson, Ryan Donohue and Lamonte Gaddis each had seven. Joe Vellano and Clarence Murphy each had two sacks, and Anthony Green had two interceptions.

Torrey Smith was drafted by the Ravens in the second round. It’ll be good to see him continue his career around these parts. Da’Rel Scott was also picked, by the Giants.

Wally Judge is down to Rutgers, Maryland, and Washington, but it looks like it’s just Rutgers and Maryland.

Robert Goff, a 6’9″ power forward and the #3 JuCo prospect in the country, was released from his LOI to Oklahoma and Maryland is apparently pursuing him.

What do ya know, I got sick again. This is a crappy time of year. What we missed:

Jim Larranaga is leaving George Mason to coach at Miami. Five years removed from his Final Four run and at the age of 61, this is a surprising move for the coach, but a great move for Miami (and for the rest of the ACC). Larranaga is undoubtedly a great coach, and Miami is a bottom-of-the-ACC team that needs a boost. Making them better (but not too much better) allows the ACC to look better, hopefully giving Maryland a few more quality wins ever year. I’ve always liked Larranaga, and I wish him luck bringing talent to South Beach.

Women’s lacrosse plays UNC in the ACC Championship today. Men’s lacrosse plays Duke in the conference finals as well.

Freshman Amina Smith earned All-ACC honors in the high jump.

Now, news on the football recruiting front. This is Jalen Tabor, a class of 2014 cornerback who is an absolute stud. Watch the video (to the end, that’s the most important part):

This looks fantastic. You’ve got a young star telling the rest of in-state recruits to stay in state and go to Maryland to win championships. Terps fans get (rightfully) upset with the school’s inability to nab in-state recruits. Part of it is the principle of the matter – Maryland is the only big school in the state and you should always win your whole state. Most of it, however, is the (probably correct) belief that a Terps team made up of the stars from the area would win championships, and we’re talking about either football or basketball. Tabor is already being recruited by big-time schools as a freshman in high school, but he wants to be a Terp. Lock him up as soon as possible, coach Edsall, and get him to recruiting other in-state stars.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sorry we’ve been a little MIA as of late – I got sick and spent a weekend in Virginia, leaving my blogging capabilities seriously handicapped. However, we’re back and fully functional, and here’s a rundown of what we missed (call it the revival of our old usual morning links):

Via TestudoTimes, here’s a little Justin Anderson shimmy to brighten your day:

Desmond Hubert committed to North Carolina. With Tyler Zeller, John Henson, and now Harrison Barnes returning, this was somewhat surprising, but the Tar Heels have to be considered title favorites. Not because of Hubert, mind you – the guy’s going to ride the pine all year – but Roy Williams has a dynamite squad returning to Chapel Hill.

Wally Judge made his first visit to a school since being granted his release from Kansas State, and it was to Rutgers. He seemed to like it somewhat, but wasn’t gushing over it. Also – “He added he likely would visit Washington, and Memphis and Maryland were also in the equation.”

Kenny Tate was named to the Lott Impact Trophy Watch List, because of course he was.

From TT – Maryland is recruiting Shaquille Cleare hard, and is currently competing with Arizona, Florida and Texas for 2012 big man Mitch McGary. McGary is a four-star 6’9″ power forward/center from Chesterton, Indiana, and will be an interesting prospect to watch.

Thanks for stopping by.
