The Maryland Terrapins football team lone representative at this weeks NFL Draft Combine will be standout TE Matt Furstenburg. In his career as a member of the Terrapins football program Furstenburg brought in 60 receptions for 769 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns. The 6’4″ senior from New Jersey saw a decline in his productivity in his senior season largely due to the plethora of injuries the Terps suffered at the QB position but the decline in numbers from his junior to senior year wasn’t enough to keep him from receiving an invite to the world’s most streneous job interview in Indianapolis this week.

Furstenburg “broke out” onto the scene during his junior season when he caught 31 passes for 348 yards and 2 touchdowns. With that type of productivity he was in the conversation as one of the top TE’s in the ACC heading into his senior season. Unfortunately for Furstenburg, the series of injuries which left scout team linebacker Shawn Petty taking snaps to close out the season did not do much to enhance his stock heading into next month’s NFL Draft.

Furstenburg will have a chance to show what he can do in front of every NFL team’s front office personel this week, he is scheduled to work out with the other TE prospects on Saturday. As of right now Furstenburg isn’t projected to be drafted but would be a well sought after name as an undrafted free agent.
