This Is My Preseason Top 25. There Are Many Like It, But This One Is Mine

TerrapinStationMD.com and some of our staff members have decided to put together a college football preseason top 25 poll for your enjoyment. Yes, the picks will likely be inaccurate as the season progresses but that’s true of any poll. The point is, we left the homerism at the door and decided to make objective picks here. It also means you get to hold us accountable each week for this stuff, so all the dumb picks will be registered into public record.

If you, as a fan, would like to also participate in this poll, let me know on Twitter before week one (@TerpStationMD) and I’ll add your picks in. Keep in mind, this will put you into ridicule, and you will be required to do this once a week for like, 13 weeks, man. So you can’t go on a bender and not participate one Sunday; you need to be locked in.

With all that said, the current preseason poll:

One shock: only Arthur decided to rank the Terrapins out of everyone who participated, although when this is updated with Ahmed and Chris’ picks I can’t guarantee they won’t be ranked one. The other shock is that only Florida State was unanimous in everyone’s top three picks, and no other team occupied the same spot in the top ten by either writer. This year, there seem to be a lot of strong teams, but no clear-cut absolute powerhouses that will go undefeated.

And USC is finally ranked again!

Why did I rank Marshall this high in the top 25, you ask? Not because they beat Maryland last year, but because that schedule is an absolute joke. They’re favored in every single game this year, return an amazingly talented quarterback, and stand a good chance of going undefeated. That’s going to get them ranked in polls at the end of the year whether people like it or not. I think they’re one of the top 25, so they remain.

Enjoy the picks as this season progresses. We’ll keep them posted year round.
