Maryland has been extremely active on the recruiting trail lately, and it appears they have landed yet another commitment Friday afternoon from 2015 wide receiver Jahrvis Davenport of Tampa, FL. Davenport, who represents the 12th commitment for the Terps in the Class of 2015, stands at 5’10, 180lbs and plays his ball at Robinson High. He held offers from a lot of schools, but notable ones include Georgia Tech, East Carolina, Rutgers, Wake Forest, and Connecticut among others.
Davenport is Maryland’s third recruit to commit in less than 24 hours and fourth in five days. Late last night, Maryland got two commitments from ILBs Gus Little and Brett Zanotto, and Davenport makes three. The Terrapins have been extremely active this July, with nine of their 12 commitments from 2015 coming in the month.
Davenport’s tape looks amazing. In comparison to his opponents, the kid has great speed and straight-ahead speed. He plays football in Florida, a notorious hotbed for talent, so he has that going for him (though it is worth mentioning it’s in Tampa). Hands wise, Davenport looks as solid as anyone else, and adding depth to one of the best units in the Big Ten can’t hurt the Terps. Overall, he’s the first wide receiver commitment the Terps have in the 2015 class.
Nice pickup. Check out his highlight tape here
