Maryland picked up their ninth commitment in the 2015 class in 6’5” center Mason Zimmerman.
Zimmerman is unrated on Rivals and 247, but his addition continues to prove the staff is emphasizing the offensive line. He holds offers from Air Force, Cincinnati, Marshall and Toledo.
Although not highly recruited, Zimmerman’s big frame allows him to grow and add even more muscle during his senior season at Anthony Wayne High School (Ohio). From his highlight tape, Zimmerman is a guy that looks very strong in pass and run protection. His footwork looks solid, but has room to grow.
With this commitment, the staff has continued its strong momentum on the recruiting trail. This is their eighth commitment in the past month. In the class, Maryland now has three offensive line commits, including E.J. Donahue and Ellis McKennie. The staff may not be done, as they continue to heavily recruit Isaiah Prince and Quarvez Boulware. However, a lot of commitments, including Mason Zimmerman, were recruits that were not heavily recruited, but have a lot of potential and can make big contributions down the line. Overall, this class has provided depth at numerous positions and will look to continue to add top-tier prospects. More good news could be coming for the staff this upcoming week.
