Despite getting off to a slow start of the 2015 recruiting trail, coach Randy Edsall and his staff have been building some huge momentum lately.
On Sunday evening, Maryland picked up their third commitment of the weekend when Potomac defensive tackle Keiron Howard pledged to the Terrapins. Howard joins Frankfort (WV) quarterback Gage Shaffer and Fort Hill athlete Ty Johnson as Maryland’s three commits for the weekend.
Howard is a three-star prospect and is ranked as the 18th best player in Maryland, according to 247Sports. The Potomac defensive tackle also had offers from New Mexico, Temple, and Tennessee. Howard is the first defensive player in the 2015 class after a heavy run on offense.
The Wolverine star is very quick for a defensive tackle (4.69 40-yard dash) and really has a nose for the football. Howard excels at clogging the running lanes and can also rush the passer from the edge. He also has great size at 6’4/284 lbs. and it allows him to win most battles at the line of scrimmage.
We’ll have more on Howard and his impact in the coming days.
