2015 Saint James Point Guard Justin Robinson told me that he will be visiting Maryland on June 19th. Robinson is a great ball-handler that makes great decisions, rarely turns the ball over and does a great job getting his teammates involved. He’s everything Mark Turgeon is looking for in a point guard.
Robinson is a 3-star point guard on Rivals and 247Sports, but has a 4-star composite rating on 247. Since he picked up his offer from Maryland in early April, Robinson has received offers from GW, Illinois, Memphis, Penn State, Temple and UNLV. His stock will certainly continue to rise throughout the summer circuit and will undoubtedly continue to add more offers.
After Seth Allen and Roddy Peters transferred, that left only Melo Trimble, who is not a true point guard, as the only point guard left on the roster. Although there are others that have and can play the one in Richaud Pack and Dez Wells, neither will be on the team in 2015 due to graduation. Bringing in a guy like Robinson would help depth tremendously and would allow Trimble to occasionally play the two, giving Turgeon more versatility with his lineup.
Currently, the Crystal Ball reads 100% Virginia Tech, but it’s still very early in his recruitment and Maryland will certainly be a major player in his recruitment. When Maryland offered, Robinson told me that he and assistant coach Dustin Clark “text often” and that Clark had come up to see him after the offer. The fact that Maryland got in on him early will help and being a hometown school plays in Turgeon’s favor. Justin Robinson is definitely a name for Maryland fans to remember as he can become a key member of the 2015 class.
