According to Ryan Synder of Rivals, Maryland has received a football commitment from cornerback Denzel Conyers of Butte College (CA).
Conyers is a former Florida International commit that also held offers from Connecticut, Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico, and Western Michigan. The former two-star defensive back recruit played his high school football at Boca Ciega in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
It appears that Conyers will enroll this summer and be eligible to play for Maryland in 2014. The 6’2 cornerback has transitioned over from safety, so he has supreme ball-hawking skills and makes great reads on the football. The former Golden Panther commit played a decent amount of special teams at Butte College, proving his versatility. Based on film, Conyers seems to be tremendous in pass coverage and really was leaned upon by the Butte College coaching staff. He should be great for depth at the cornerback position, which is huge for a Terrapins team that lost cornerbacks Dexter McDougle and Issac Goins to graduation.
Chalk another recruit in the Sunshine State for coach Randy Edsall and his staff. In the past two years, Edsall has really attacked that area of the country as he has secured commitments from cornerback Will Likely and defensive lineman Kingsley Opara.
