After opening the past two regular seasons in Brooklyn, the Maryland men’s basketball team will participate in the Jimmy V Classic, taking on the Villanova Wildcats on Dec. 9. ACC newcomer Louisville will take on the Big Ten’s Indiana Hoosiers in the other game.
In terms of the 2014-2015 non-conference schedule, we don’t know much about how it will shake out. However, the Terrapins will participate in the CBE Classic on Nov. 24 and 25 in Kansas City, Mo. The other three teams in the CBE Classic are Alabama, Arizona State, and Iowa State. The latter two teams appeared in the NCAA tournament this season with Iowa State reaching the Sweet 16.
Maryland will also be playing in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge as a member of the Big Ten. Obviously, the opponent is currently unknown, but the Terps look likely to host their game in the challenge.
Another interesting piece of information is how this impact the Terps potentially playing in Brooklyn. According to sources close to Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post, Maryland will not play at the Barclays Center next season despite coming to terms in a multi-year agreement to appear at the Barclays Center.
