Terps Link Dump: Lax Beats UVA, Alyssa Thomas Is Amazing

  • The lacrosse team had one final ACC home game to play against one of their oldest rivals in history: UVA. Faced with a deficit to end the first half, the team stormed back and managed to make it one of the more memorable games in recent memory. It’s also the second “last” ACC home game in which Maryland beat UVA, so that’s pretty awesome. (WaPo)
  • Sunday was also huge because for the for the first time since 2012, the Lady Terps basketball team advances to the Elite Eight after upsetting another historically great team, Tennessee. Alyssa Thomas would not be denied against Tennessee, and put together one of the most dominant performances I’ve seen from her. She matched her career high and did it during the closing minutes when Tennseee threatened to mount a comeback. That’s gutsy, and you have to figure Louisville is nervous. (More WaPo)
  • Demetrius Hartsfield was one of the best tacklers in Maryland history, statistically speaking, and most felt that he would likely get a shot at playing in the NFL after recovering from a devastating knee injury in 2012. It looks like he’s fully prepared and ready to take on that task, as he’s working out with the San Francisco 49ers and has regained most of his speed. Let’s hope Vernon Davis put in a good word. • Finally, I got a chance to look at some top recruits this weekend at DeMatha Catholic High School, and if you’re interested in some basketball updates then check it out here. There were some very talented players around, and more than a few had complimentary things to say about the Terps.
