The Maryland Terrapins football team is making some minor adjustments to their non-conference schedules, beginning in 2016.
Maryland was set to visit Central Florida on Sept. 17, 2016 and also would visit West Virginia the following week. Now the schedule has changed and the Terps will travel to Central Florida on the same day in 2016, but won’t visit Morgantown that season. In 2017, Maryland will host the Knights on Sept. 23 at Byrd Stadium.
The series with West Virginia has been pushed back to begin on Sept. 19, 2020. The first game will take place on Sept. 19, 2020 and the following year on Sept. 4, 2021, the Mountaineers will visit Byrd Stadium.
The only game that was previously scheduled for the distant 2020 season was a home contest against Towson on Sept. 5.
Both series with Central Florida and West Virginia won’t begin for a few years, so the Terps have filled their schedules for 2016 and 2017. In their 2016 non-conference slate, Maryland will face Howard, Florida International (away), and Central Florida (away). In the 2017 non-conference schedule, the Terps have Texas (away), Towson, and Central Florida.
2017 could be very interesting as the Longhorns are usually a contender in the Big 12. Towson provides an interesting local matchup that Maryland hasn’t had for quite some time and Central Florida is an intriguing team that is coming off an 11-1 season and a Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor.
