Lady Terps Earn a Four-Seed In The NCAA Tournament

The Maryland Lady Terps earned the fourth seed in theNCAA  tournament and will face Army in College Park at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Terps will look to build on their impressive year thus far.

Maryland has a tough region, as Tennessee, West Virginia and Iowa are all in their region and are consistently good NCAA teams. What Maryland has that the other teams don’t is three-time ACC player of the year Alyssa Thomas. In her final run as a Terp, Thomas will look to lead Maryland back to the championship game.

In last year’s tournament appearance, the Terps lost to eventual national champion Connecticut in the Sweet Sixteen. With a more talented team, Maryland could surpass last year’s success, but will likely need to go through Tennessee in the Sweet Sixteen to do so.

With their four-seed this year, Maryland has now appeared in the tournament 22 teams and 10 times under head coach Brenda Frese. Maryland struggled against the top teams in the nation this year, but the tournament always brings an elevated sense of hunger among teams. You can purchase tickets for the games at College Park here.
