Maryland Football Recruiting Notes 3.14.14

Nick Johns continues to take visits, while Pickard picked up a big offer from a school with close family ties.

  • David Robbins has a busy schedule next week, as he will visit FSU on Thursday, Alabama on Friday and Auburn on Saturday. He will also make trips out to Ohio State on March 29th , Wake Forest on April 25th, and Kentucky to go see an open practice. Robbins also received offers from Old Dominion and Boston College this week as West Virginia has picked up its interest in his recruitment.
  • Marcus Lewis confirmed that Ohio State and Florida are his two early leaders and added that Clemson, Michigan State, and Miami are all schools that currently stand out the most. This summer, he will camp at Alabama and Oregon on top of continuing to work hard. Lewis will look to set his top ten this spring and his top five by summer.
  • Jake Pickard picked up a big offer from Purdue, an offer that will change his recruitment. Pickard has close family ties to Purdue, and the Crystal Ball has already begun predicting Pickard there. He will make out the trip to Purdue on March 25th as well as Penn State either the 22nd or the 29th and again April 12th.
  • Nick Johns is continuing to take visits as he toured NC State and North Carolina last weekend, adding that both visits went “great.” In terms of a UNC offer, Johns believes the offer will come soon, “but you never know.” Tennessee is also picking up their contact with Johns.
  • Rashad Blunt will visit Florida Atlantic, Central Florida, and Florida International next weekend after he attends the Rivals UA Combine. Blunt said that Maryland is still in contact with him.

  • 4-star OT Grant Newsome visited Northwestern on Thursday.
  • 5-star DT Tim Settle visited Rutgers on Monday.
  • 4-star OT and 4-star TE Chris Clark visited Maryland on Monday.
  • Old Dominion and Boston College offered 3-star OG David Robbins.
  • Coastal Carolina offered 3-star CB Darnell Savage.
  • Oregon Ducks offered 4-star ILB Josh Barajas and 5-star DE Josh Sweat.
  • Boston College offered 3-star safety Ayron Monroe.
  • Alabama offered 4-star LB Ricky DeBerry.
  • UVA offered 3-star DE Jake Pickard.
