Maryland Basketball VS Oregon State Halftime Recap

What a wild first half for the Maryland Terrapins. Despite turning the ball over eight times in the first half, the Terps are tied 38-38. With Barack Obama in attendance, the atmosphere at Comcast is booming, even if the Terps offense isn’t. Let’s get into some game analysis…

  • Talk about instant offense. Charles Mitchell played, literally, seven minutes of basketball today, and yet he’s second on the team in points with eight. The minute he went into the game, Mitchell’s effect was felt. In particular, he’s just an absolute beast on the offensive glass with two offensive rebounds already. That speaks to his hustle as half the battle is just desire and wanting the ball more than everyone else.
  • Roddy Peters ay already have had his best half as a Terp. While he only has four points, Peters has done a fantastic job so far of finding open teammates. His best highlight came as he dashed into the lane and dumped the ball off to Shaquille Cleare for a big slam dunk. He’s got three assists so far, and the sooner he keeps this type of performance up, the sooner he can go into the starting lineup and give Maryland some stability.
  • Which brings me to my third and final points: Maryland has got to hold onto that ball. If Oregon State continues to shoot as well as they are right now (13-22 from the floor), then Maryland will lose this game if they turn it over eight times a half. The only reason that statistic is somewhat irrelevant right now is because Oregon State was just as bad at it. It’ll become an issue once people realize Maryland is shooting a dreadful 15-36 from the floor.

Back to the game, fellas…
