After reports surfaced earlier in the week linking Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson to the soon-to-be-open Texas position, speculation ran rampant. However, it appears that Anderson is staying put in College Park after a post on his blog “Kevin’s Corner” on the Maryland athletics department web site.
In the post, Anderson says “Let me be clear, I am not pursuing any other professional opportunities at other institutions. I am steadfast in my commitment to the University of Maryland.” Anderson also talks about the progress that the University of Maryland has made and he is humbled by even being linked to the position at the University of Texas.
Anderson was in serious consideration for the job along with West Virginia’s Oliver Luck and Arizona State’s Steve Patterson. Luck is presumably believed to be the favorite for the position after DeLoss Dodds retires in August 2014.
The Maryland athletic director also proclaimed his excitement for Maryland’s upcoming weekend of athletic with the men’s basketball team travelling to Brooklyn to face Connecticut and the football team hosting Syracuse.
