Terp senior forward Alyssa Thomas has high expectations for her final year as a Terp. The senior was one of the 25 players to be named to the Wade Watch List, the most prestigious award in women’s college basketball. Reigning ACC Player of the Year, Thomas will look to end her career with a bang when the Terps take the floor on October 29th.

Averaging a double-double with 18.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, Thomas is certainly the heart and sole of this Maryland Terrapins team. She has consistently played at the high level coach Brenda Frese expects from her. Throughout Thomas’ tenure, she has become more of a vocal leader and asserted herself as the Terps playmaker.

Thomas accepted an invitation to join the USA basketball tryout, which was held October 4-6. The invitation is just another accolade to Thomas’ resume, which will certainly grow by the end of the year. The invitations sent out included many WNBA stars, including Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi. It will be a while before Thomas learns whether she has made the team, but the future is certainly bright for her. The Terps will begin the season in just three weeks as they look to build on last year’s 26-win season.
