Terrapin Takes, 9/18: Depth Charts, Mountaineer Woes

  • Before the season, Marcus Leak bowed out of the wide receiver race prematurely, but the position had so much depth it wasn’t a major issue. Heading into week four, it’s now Nigel King with an undisclosed injury that’s going to keep him out for an undisclosed amount of time. Stepping into his place? Redshirt reshman Malcolm Culmer. For more depth chart news, Prewitt of the Washington Post has you covered.
  • West Virginia’s head coach Dana Holgorsen is well aware how much of a challenge the Terrapins offense is going to pose for his defense. In particular, he understands how good Stefonimal Diggs really is. When you hear some of the praise coming from Holgorsen’s mouth about Diggs and Deon Long, you’ll be surprised. (TribLive)
  • Remember how this UMD-WVU match was being billed as a neutral site affair? Well, that’s not the case, even if the game isn’t being played at Byrd. So who is upset about that? Surprisingly, West Virginia’s marching band. I love the move, if only because it shafts the Mountaineers (whom I actually feel bad for). Then again, any perceived on-field advantage should be mitigated as soon as possible. (Baltimore Sun)
  • And finally, Mr. Darr over at TestudoTimes ranks the ACC teams, and pretty fairly if you ask me. Except for the fact that Maryland is the best team in the country /s.

Bonus – Because we all love football so much, this should elicit a chuckle:
