It seems the report that Maryland will wear new uniforms against West Virginia is premature. According to the Under Armour site, the new jerseys will be released on September 21. According to sources close to Terrapin Station MD, what game the uniforms will be worn for has yet to be determined. In the past, jerseys were announced the week of the game. However, there is no confirmation on anything other than the jersey release date. On the site, one has the option of entering your email to get a notification when the uniforms are released. Everything right now is purely speculation.
On the site, jerseys for South Carolina, Texas Tech, and Colorado State. All jerseys look very stylish and slick as I am a huge fan. Other colleges releasing jerseys throughout the year are Texas Tech (9/7, 9/12), Maryland (9/21), Northwestern (11/16), Hawaii (11/16), and Toledo (11/20). South Carolina, Texas Tech, and Colorado State all have multiple jerseys released throughout the season. All uniforms can be found on the Under Armour site.
Under Armour has done an amazing job building hype for the program and keeping fans of all programs excited about new uniforms. The Texas Tech uniforms worn for opening game generated a lot of buzz, giving them national attention. For Maryland, getting the program national attention will help broaden exposure for not just local recruits and fans, but everyone across the country.
What the new uniforms will look like? No one outside of Under Armour has any idea. As we all remember Edsall’s first game as head coach, the original Maryland Pride uniforms worn against Miami were unexpected and immediately gained national attention. Under Armour has done a great job in the past of building hype and excitement, and there is no reason fans should expect anything less this time around. My feeling will be if a new uniform is worn by Maryland, it would be at a home game rather than a neutral site. As we wait for official word on what uniforms will be worn when, all we can focus on is against is this Saturday’s game against Old Dominion.
