  • You get the feeling with each passing day that the Maryland Terrapins have stumbled upon a complete and total gem in Deon Long. He broke JUCO records, he won a NJCAA championship, and according to his coaches, he can contribute right away at Maryland. What’s not to like? (Rivals)
  • Former Maryland football coach Joe Krivak passed away on Christmas evening, saddening many a Terp. He was a bit before my time, but I know what impact he had by the fact that, under his guidance, the Terrapins football team was considered “Quarterback U” for awhile. Mr. Prewitt of the Washington Post has the scoop.
  • Now for some good news from a team that always seems to bring good news: the #9 ranked Lady Terrapins basketball team is going to be hosting the Terrapin Classic tournament. With Brown, Hartford, and UMES in the small tournament, can you guess who the favorite to win is? (WBOC)
  • In some more joyous Terps related news, SECU (State Employee Credit Union) has pledged to donate $5 for every point scored by the Maryland basketball team as part of their Terps for Tots initiative to the Maryland Children’s Hospital. The minimum pledge of $10K means that everyone should be rooting for the Terps to score, and score aplenty. (Peter Strozniak of CreditUnionTimes.com)
