James Padgett had his day in court today and all things considered it probably couldn’t have worked out better for the Terrapins big man.
Padgett’s DWI charge was brought down to a reckless driving charge thisafternoon. As a result of this Padgett will have to pay a $250 fine, log 40 hours of community service, attend a MADD seminar and spend one year on probation per the courts ruling.
Why is this good news for Padgett and the Terrapins basketball team? Per Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post this means Padgett will not miss any games due to suspension as had been widely speculated since he did not face any alcohol related charges. I hope James is ready to get after it because we now know he’s got a date with Nerlens Noel and the rest of the Kentucky Wildcats front line on November 9th in Brooklyn.
