Maryland offensive coordinator Gary Crowton will reportedly not return to the team next season, according to the Washington Post, who cites three sources.
Crowton, who was hired from LSU prior to the start of last season, led a much-maligned Maryland offense in an abysmal 2011 campaign. The Terps were 10th in the conference in scoring (23.08 points per game) and were 81st in offensive S&P+.
For an offense with four returning starting offensive linemen, the reigning ACC Rookie of the Year at quarterback, and two great running backs in Davin Meggett and D.J. Adams, it was an incredibly disappointing year.
If true, this would be the first of many rumored staff changes for Randy Edsall after his 2-10 debut season. We will have a full story when it becomes official, but this would be great news.
