The newest rendition of Maryland’s depth chart was released today, with the same surprises in new forms.
Like last week, D.J. Adams is missing in action, but unlike last week Justus Pickett holds the No. 2 running back spot all to himself, behind Davin Meggett and beating out Jeremiah Wilson. It’s unknown whether Adams is suspended still, but if he’s not, know this – he will get carries. It is possible that the depth chart just reflects every-down backs, and Adams could still be Maryland’s goal line and short yardage back (a position they are in desperate need of). We won’t know the absolute role he has until Saturday.
In other news, with the loss of Isaiah Ross to injury, freshmen Keith Bowers and Clarence Murphy are sharing the starting defensive end role opposite David Mackall. Both played against Miami, but expect Bowers to get the majority of the snaps.
In terms of battles, Dexter McDougle won the second starting corner job outright over Jeremiah Johnson, and Titus Till is now the lone backup to Eric Franklin (beating out Anthony Green).
Other than that, everything remains the same. We’ll have some content sharing with Fansided’s West Virginia blog, Hail WV, in the coming days, so sit tight.
