Haukur Palsson Signs With Spanish Team

by Men's Basketball

Thanks to our intrepid friends at MBWATN, we have learned that former Terp forward Haukur Palsson, who surprisingly left the team earlier this summer, has signed with Basquet Manresa of Spain’s ACB league.

After averaging 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game with the Terps last year, he averaged 22.7 points and 10 rebounds per game with Iceland’s U-20 squad in a recent tournament. Palsson joins former Kansas Jayhawk/Gonzaga star Micah Downs on Manresa’s squad.

Liga ACB is the top league in Spain and is one of the top leagues in the world. Manresa finished in 15th in the 18 team league last year. One of the first-team All-ACB players last year? Former Terp forward Nik Caner-Medley. The league is also where Ricky Rubio has played for the past six seasons, if you’re into that type of thing.

Manresa’s last Spanish Championship came in 1997-98. Notable former players include George Gervin and Serge Ibaka.
