Faced with one of the toughest schedules in the nation, the #1 Terps are handling it pretty well, picking up their 12th straight win this season and 22nd overall after beating #8 Penn 16-4 Friday night in College Park.

Maryland (12-0, ACC 3-0) blended their high power attack and suffocating defense perfectly in taking down their seventh ranked opponent of the season in Penn (7-2, Ivy 3-0). The Terps started fast taking a 7-1 lead only 15 minutes into the game and eventually leading 10-2 at the half. Entering the game Penn had been holding opponents to around six goals a game.

Sophomore Katie Schwarzmann led the attack with four goals, a game high. Laura Merrifield chipped in three more while senior Sarah Mollison dished three assist which has her now tied for third overall in career assists at Maryland.

The defense shut down the Quakers thanks to outstanding games from goalie Brittany Dipper (eight saves) and Brittany Poist (who forced three turnovers).

Maryland stays at home with a game against ACC foe North Carolina, Saturday Apr. 9 at noon.

Player of the Game: Katie Schwarzmann has quickly become one of the most talented and consistent players in the ACC. The underclassman once again led the Terrapin attack with four goals, three in the first half and one assist.
