The ACC announced today that forward Alyssa Thomas was named ACC Rookie of the Week for a very Danny O’Brien-esque third time this season.
Throughout non-conference play Thomas was second on the Terps with around 12 points per game but in her first three ACC games she has exploded for 16.7 points a game and 11.3 rebounds. She played outstanding in the Terps’ close loss to Duke, where she recorded her first double double. Against Boston College she posted another double double with a career high 13 boards and she was a rebound short of a third one against Clemson in Maryland’s first ACC win of the year.
Thomas has started all 16 games for the Terps and has scored in double digits in all but two of them. She will try to lead Maryland to their second ACC win Friday against Virginia.
